Gratitude Spiral: Day 9

Today, I’m grateful for music. It’s always been a part of my life, and this time of year music is truly special. I belong to an a cappella chorus that’ll sing for five holiday events this month. On top of that, there’s the church choir and the worship band, where I offer my meager guitar skills. And, of course, there’s my Christmas playlist, which includes Garth Brooks, Jewel, and Pentatonix, among others, which I’ll be blasting whenever I get the chance.

Gratitude Spiral: Day 8

Today, I’m grateful for Christmas lights. The ones on my tree are all white lights and they remind me of stars. I turn them on before dawn and sit in the stillness of hundreds of tiny lights. They make me smile. 🙂

Today, I’m grateful for the birds at my feeder. I could stand at the window and watch for hours. I see chickadees, tufted titmice, juncos, blue jays & cardinals, and the occasional woodpecker. It’s a hoppin’ bird-party spot!!! 🙂

Today, I’m grateful for the beauty of snow.

Plenty of un-beautiful things could be said about it, but today I appreciate the gentle way it falls, the way it lines every branch, twig, and pine needle, the peaceful way it muffles the outdoors, and the way it glows blue in the shadowy places. 🙂

Today I’m grateful for the air I breathe. I take one long deep breath when I wake up in the morning and am thankful that the air is clear and that my lungs are full. Air. Definitely a blessing I take for granted.

Today, I’m grateful for this first day of December which, in my home, means a change of decorations is in order. Out with the autumn leaves and in with snowflakes and a Christmas tree! A little sparkle in the face of an impending nor’easter. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 3

Today, I’m grateful for my two good, healthy legs. Each morning, I slide out of bed (a sort of dismount from my unusually high mattress) and land on my feet. My legs carry me down a flight of stairs to breakfast. Then, I challenge them to a bit of stretching and a thirty-minute walk. What a blessing they are. 🙂
